RELOP organises Seminar focused on Sustainable Mobility in the Energy Transition
RELOP’s Energy Transition Working Group hosted a seminar focused on the theme “Sustainable Mobility in the Energy Transition: from Regulation to Operation” on 13 May 2026 in Madrid, Spain.
The initiative was part of a week of events promoted by the Ibero-American Association of Energy Regulators (ARIAE), organised by Spain’s National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC) between 11 and 14 May, with the participation of RELOP.
The seminar brought together experts, regulators, representatives from academia and stakeholders from the energy and transport sectors, who discussed the main challenges associated with the energy transition as it relates to sustainable mobility.
Throughout the morning, strategic topics were addressed, such as the electrification of transport, the adaptation of energy networks to new demand, regulatory and licensing models, the impact on tariffs, the financing of the energy transition, and the integration of storage and data intelligence solutions into charging infrastructure, with contributions from:
- Vladimiro Miranda – INESC TEC;
- Isabel Apolinário – ERSE;
- Alexandre Santos – Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) of Portugal;
- Nivalde de Castro – Electricity Sector Study Group (GESEL);
- Among others.
The initiative prompted a wide-ranging discussion on the current state of sustainable mobility and helped to identify solutions aimed at strengthening the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of energy systems.
